Identify the terms and their factors in the following expressions
y – y^3
5xy^2 + 7x^2y
-ab + 2b^2 – 3a^2

Answer:

1) Terms-> y and y^3

factors-> y(1-y^2) = y(1+y)(1-y)

2) Terms -> 5xy^2 and 7x^2y

Factors-> xy and (5y+7x)

3) Terms-> 2b^2, 3a^2 and ab

Factors -> 2b^2 -3ab + 2ab - 3a^2

= b (2b-3a) + a(2b - 3a)

= (b+a)(2b-3a)
