Answer:

a. hydrogen and chlorine

they will form ionic bond because they both need one electron to attain stability. formula is HCl.

b. sodium and fluorine

they will also form ionic bond because they also need one electron to attain stability formula is NaF.

c. carbon and hydrogen

they will not react each other if they will react carbon atom should be 1 and hydrogen atom should be 4 then they will undergo covalent bonding. formula is CH4 that is methane.

d. calcium and hydrogen

they will not react with each other because they both are metals. So they will not go any type of bonding.

Answer:

The elements are 1) hydrogen          17) chlorine  - HCl, Ionic bond

                             11)sodium              9)fluorine   - Na-F, Ionic bond

                              6)carbon               1)hydrogen  - C-H, Covalent bond

                            20)calcium              1)hydrogen  - CaH_{2}, Ionic bond

Explanation:

Ionic bond: This is a chemical bond that occurs between two or more atoms when an electrostatic attractions happens between oppositely charged ions. This rection creates negatively charged ions called anions and positively charge ions are called cations.

Covalent bond: This is a chemical bond that occurs between two or more atoms when sharing of electrons between two atoms takes place. This occurs when the bonded atoms have a lower total energy than that of separated atoms.
