This is picture contains 3 main forces: muscular force, frictional forces and a push and pull force on the rope.
- The given picture depicts a tug of war game. There are a lot of different types of forces that are shown in the picture.
- This game bases its rules of the concept of forces. There are two teams that are present on either side of a rope that needs to be pulled with their maximum force. The team that is able to apply their strengths to pull the rope onto their side is the winner.
- Therefore there are action and reaction forces involved in this game where one teams provides a pull as its force which is the action and the other team tries to give an equivalent pull onto their side as a reaction to the action caused in-order to keep the forces balanced.
- Thus, from the concept of this game it can be seen that there is a push and a pull force that is involved. The pulling force is applied on the rope by the people playing the game.
- The rope stays in a balanced state when both teams are applying equal efforts and forces.
- When one force is greater than the other, that is, when one team collectively applies more force than the other team there is a shift and there is an unbalanced force causing one of the team to win.
- Thus, the concept of balanced and unbalanced forces also comes into picture here.
- There is also muscular force that is applied by the teams in pulling the rope. This is the main force applied by them since they use their muscles in pulling the rope.
- The frictional force comes into picture when one teams pulls the other team and they tend to move towards the side of the pull creating friction between them and the ground.
- There can also be tension in the rope. Tension is also a kind of force which can be seen in the rope when pulled with an extreme force.
- When a large amount of force is exerted on the rope, the force becomes highly unbalanced and causes the rope to tear apart as it reaches its saturation point. This can also result in fatal incidents to occur.
- Another force that is applied by default is the gravitational force of the people on the ground which is the reason as to why they can stand firmly on the ground and pull the rope.
