When zinc reaction with silver nitrate to produce zinc nitrate and silver.

The following reaction will takes place:

Zn + AgNO3 → Zn(NO3)2 + 2Ag

Balanced chemical equation:

Zn (s) + 2AgNO3 (aq) → Zn(NO3)2 (aq) + 2Ag (s)

As the more reactive element is displacing less reactive element in a compound. So, the above reaction is an example of Displacement Reaction.

Why not Double Displacement Reaction?

Let's take an example to understand Double Displacement Reaction.

Pb(NO3)2 + 2KI → PbI2 + 2KNO3

The above reaction is an Double Displacement Reaction. As the ions are displacing each other. Also it is a Precipitation Reaction as yellow precipitates of Lead (II) Iodine are formed.

  • General equation for double displacement reaction is AB + CD → AD + CB
  • It is a fast reaction.
  • Formation of precipitation takes place.

✍️Given!

♻️word reaction:

Znic +silver nitrate =====> zinc nitrate+silver.

♻️formula reaction:

Zn+Ag(NO3)====>Zn(NO3)2+2Ag

♻️balanced equations

Zn+2Ag(NO3)====>Zn(NO3)2+2Ag

therefore,

✍️this reaction is DISPLACEMENT REACTION

⚕️ DISPLACEMENT REACTION⚕️

WHEN AN ELEMENT USED PLACES AND OTHER ELEMENT FROM WHICH FORM A DISPLACEMENT REACTION TAKE PLACE .

⚕️ DOUBLE DISPLACEMENT REACTION⚕️

TWO DIFFERENT ATOMS OF GROUPS OF ATOMS ARE EXCHANGED IN DOUBLE DISPLACEMENT REACTION.
