What is your question?

1)

Identify the type of reactions taking place in each of following cases and

write the balanced chemical equation for the reactions.

a) Zn reacts with silver nitrate to produce zinc nitrate and silver.

b) Potassium iodine reacts with lead nitrate to produce potassium

nitrate and lead iodide ?

Answers

a) Displacement Reaction.

Since zinc is more reactive than silver, it displaces silver from the compound to form zinc nitrate.

Zn + Ag(NO3)2 -------> Zn(NO3)2 + Ag

b) Double displacement reaction.

KI + Pb(NO3)2 -------> KNO3 + PbI2

Hope this helps!

Answer:

a) Zn+AgNO3 gives ZnNo3+Ag , it is balanced and tjis is displacement reaction.

b) KI+PbNO3gives KNO3 + I, it is already balanced and it is also displacement reaction.
