Reasons for the formation of National assembly were:

1.France before the French revolution was based on strict social stratification, a society based on the system of estates with king at the apex , followed by the nobility and the common people. The society was based on privileges based on birth, where the clergy and the nobility were exempted from paying taxes.. The middle class who primarily consisted of the moneyed and educated section of the Third estate and believed in the social structure that was based on merit and not birth. They believed that no group should be privileged on account of birth rather a society must be based on the principles of freedom, equal laws and opportunities.
2. Economic crisis in the region, brought peasantry to the brink of starvation
3, Imposition of already existing taxes and king's proposal to increase further taxes, led to the convention of an assembly by the king.
4. In 1789, when Louis XIV had convened an assembly of Estates General with regard to proposal of new taxes, representatives of the estates were formed part of that assembly.
Third Estate that represented the common people both rich and poor of France, mainly comprised of peasants ,artisans, even businessmen, official, lawyers.
5. In 1789.assembly of Estates general mainly comprised of educated and prosperous section of the third estate who mainly represented the rest of the section of the society and voiced their concerns and grievances at the Assembly.
6. Since, these 600 representatives carried along with them 40,000 odd letters of the common people they viewed themselves and spoke for the whole nation.
7. The third estate failed to get their demands fulfilled, which resulted in the formation of national assembly. The Third Estate formed National Assembly, and were led by Mirabeau and Abbé Sieyès​, and involved themselves in drafting a new constitution to limit the powers of the monarch.
8. On the eve of revolution, faced with the revolting subjects, the King accorded recognition to the National assembly,
