There are three valence electrons.

It is observed that there is a steady increase in the ionization energy up to the removal of three electrons.

While removing forth electron it needs huge energy which indicates that after removing three electrons the atom attain noble gas configuration hence to remove the fourth electron it required a lot of energy.

Hence there must be three electrons in the valence shell of the atom.

You can clearly notice the difference between the values of IE.

As we go more towards interior of the atom the force of attraction increases.

When we subtract IE2 from IE1 the difference is 713. When we subtract IE2 from IE3 we get 6282. When we subtract IE3 from IE4 we get 2180 which is smaller than 6282 which implies that they are in same shell while the previous electrons belong to different shell.

As the force of attraction increases the IE required will also increase.
