Since, 1/2 is a solution. Then,

$= > ({ \frac{1}{2} )}^{2} - m( \frac{1}{2} ) - \frac{5}{4} = 0$

$= > \frac{1 - 5}{4} = \frac{m}{2}$

$= > m = - 2$
