Putting x=-1/2 in given equation

K(1/2)²-3×(-1/2)-k=0

k/4+3/2-k=0

-3/4k=-3/2

so k=2

Question: If -1/2 is a solution of kx^2-3x-k=0 find k.

Solution:

Since
 \frac{-1}{2} is the solution if the equation It will satisfy the equation.

 \boxed{kx^2-3x-k= 0 }

substituting  \frac{-1}{2} in this equation.

k  \frac{-1}{2} ^{2}     -3 (  \frac{-1}{2} )  - k = 0

 \frac{k}{4}  \frac{3}{2} -k =0

 \frac{3k}{4}  \frac{3}{2}

 \boxed{ k = 2 }

so the value of k is 2.
