If 1/2 is subtracted from a number and the difference is multiplied by 4 the result is 5.What is the number ?

  As per the question :
  
  => 4(x - ½) = 5
  
  => 4x - 2 = 5
  
  => 4x = 7
  
  => x = 7/4
