 \huge  \underbrace{Answer:}

Formula used:

  • S.I = (p×r×t)/100
  • P=(I×100)/R×T
  • R=(I×100)/P×T
  • T=(I×100)/P×R
  • Amount= Principal+Interest

Solution:

Given,

Amount= Rs.1740

Principal= Rs.1200

Interest= Rs.(1740-1200) = Rs.540

R= (540×100)/(1200×5) = 9%

Let the Principal be p.

S.I = (p×r×t)/100

=>S.I= (p×9×4)/100

=> S.I= 9p/25

Now,

Amount= Interest+Principal

=> 2720= 9p/25 + p

=> 2720×25=9p+25p

=> p= 68000/34

=> p= 2000

Therefore, The Principal is Rs.2000
