3x² + 5x - 2

= 3x² + 3x - 2x - 2

= 3x(x + 1) - 2(x + 1)

= (3x - 2)(x + 1)

to find zeroes,

(3x - 2)(x + 1) = 0

3x - 2 = 0 or x + 1 = 0

x = ⅔ or x = -1
