♠$\sqr({a+b})^{2}\:=\:{a^2+b^2+2ab}$.

[Suaring both side of (1). ]

➡We get.

$\implies$.(x + 1/x )^² = 7^2.

$\implies\:x^2\:+\frac{1}{x}^2+\:2*x\frac{1}{x}=49$.

$\implies\:x^2\:+\frac{1}{x}^2=\:49\:-\:1$.

$\implies\:x^2\:+\frac{1}{x}^2=\:48$.
