If ×=1/7,y=2/3and z= -1/3,verify that,x×(y+z)=(x×y)+(x×z).

Given:-

  • x=\dfrac{1}{7}

  • y=\dfrac{2}{3}

  • z=\dfrac{-1}{3}

To Verify:-

  • x(y + z) = (x×y)+(x×z)

Solution:-

Simply substituting the Values,

⟹x(y + z) = (x×y)+(x×z)

⟹\dfrac{1}{7}(\dfrac{2}{3} + \dfrac{-1}{3}) = \dfrac{1}{7}×\dfrac{2}{3}+\dfrac{1}{7}×\dfrac{-1}{3}

⟹\dfrac{1}{7}×\dfrac{1}{3} = \dfrac{2}{21}+\dfrac{-1}{21}

⟹\dfrac{1}{21}= \dfrac{1}{21}

{\boxed{L.H.S = R.H.S}}
