In the given problem we have:

Heat is lost by 100° C steam = Heat gained by 0 °C ice

The latent heat of fusion is defined as the amount of heat needed to change a substance from solid to liquid or vice versa.

whereas,

The latent heat of vaporization is the amount of heat required to change a substance from liquid to gas.

Now,

Note: All Units are in cgs.

tf=final temperature.

Heat gained by the ice = m*L(ice)+m*S(water)*(tf - 0)

Heat gained by the ice= = 1*80 + 1*1* tf

and

Heat lost by the steam = m*L(water) + m*S(water) *(100 - tf)

Heat lost by the steam= 1*0.5 + 1*1 *(100 - tf)

tf = 10.5 °C
