p(x) = x {}^{2}  - 3(a - 1)x

g(x) = x - 1

p(x) =  x {}^{2}  - 3ax - 3x

p(1) = 1 {}^{2}  - 3a(1) - 3(1)

0 = 1 - 3a - 3

0 =  - 3a - 2

3a =  - 2

a =  \frac{ - 2}{3}
