Answer:

let the numerator be x

let the denominater be y

so, fraction be = x/y

A.T.Q

x +1/y = 3/4

(then cross multiply )

4x+4= 3y

4x-3y =-4. (1)

x-1 /y= 1/2

(then cross multiply)

2x-2 = y

2x-y= 2 (2)

(then subtract)

4x-3y=4

2x-y=2

-. +. -

2x-4y=2

put y= 8 in 1st equation

4x-3y= 4

4x-3(8)= 4

4x - 24= 4

4x= -4 + 24

4x = 20

x= 20/4

x= 5
