Working 4 hours a day, 24 persons can cut 32 trees in 18 days.

Given:

10 people can cut 20 trees in 3 days working 12 hours a day.

To find:

The number of days in which 24 persons can cut 32 trees working 4 hours a day.

Solution:

To answer this question, we will follow the following steps:

First of all, we should know the formula:

 \frac{p1 \times d1 \times h1}{p2 \times d2 \times h2}  =  \frac{w1}{w2}

where p1, d1 and h1 are the numbers of persons, the number of days and the number of hours taken by p1 to complete the work w1.

Similarly, p2, d2 and h2 are the numbers of persons, the number of days and the number of hours taken by p1 to complete the work w2.

Now,

According to the question, we have,

p1 = 10, h1 = 12, d1 = 3, w1 = 20 trees

p2 = 24, h2 = 4, d2 =? and w2 = 32 trees

After putting the values in the above formula, we get

 \frac{10 \times 12 \times 3}{24 \times 4 \times d2}  =  \frac{20}{32}

After solving the above, we get

 \frac{90}{8 \times d2}  =  \frac{5}{8}

d2 =  \frac{90}{5}

d2 = 18

Hence, working 4 hours a day, the 24 persons can cut 32 trees in 18 days.
