Given : 10, x, 3 are in AP

To find : Value of x

Solution :

AP is a progression of numbers in which common difference between two consecutive terms is always constant throughout the sequence.

i.e 2nd term - 1st term = 3rd term - 2nd term

⇒ a2 - a1 = a3 - a2

⇒ x - 10 = 3 - x

⇒ x + x = 3 + 10

⇒ 2x = 13

⇒ x = 13 / 2

⇒ x = 6.5

Hence the value of x is 6.5
