Answer :-

\longmapsto\sf 10 + y = 31

Transposing y from LHS to RHS, changing it's sign,

\longmapsto\sf y = 31 - 10

Subtracting 10 from 31,

\longmapsto\underline{\boxed{\sf y = 21}}

----------------------------

Verification :-

  • To check our answer, let's put 21 in the place of y and check whether LHS = RHS.

LHS

 \hookrightarrow\rm 10 + y

Substituting the value of y,

 \hookrightarrow\rm 10 + 21

Adding 21 to 10,

 \hookrightarrow 31

RHS

 \hookrightarrow\rm 31

LHS = RHS.

Hence verified!
