Explanation:

Given,

The force applied on the block = 100N

Also,

Coefficient of static friction = 0.4

Coefficient of kinetic friction = 0.3

As, we know that the coefficient of static friction determines that the relative slipping between the block and the surface is happening or not

In this case Static friction = coefficient of static friction * Normal reactionary force .

N = Mg

Taking g to be = 9.8 we get

N = 294 N

Hence,

static friction = 0.4* 294

= 117.6 N

Since, the applied force is less than the static friction, Hence there will be no relative slipping and therefore no frictional force will be applied

Remember: Static friction is variable and the maximum value of static friction is limiting friction....

Since, there is no relative slipping the box will not be in motion and no frictional force will be applied..
