  • Let the number be "x"
  • If 12 is subtracted from twice the number, the result is 24
  • Twice of x is 2x

⇒ 2x - 12 = 24

⇒ 2x = 24 + 12

⇒ 2x = 36

⇒  x = 36/2

⇒ x = 18

∴The number is 18
