If 1200 W electric iron is used daily for 30 minutes, how much electricity is consumed in the month of April?

Explanation: to calculate the problem we use the formula for Energy to know how much electricity is consumed and to do so;

E=power × time; but we do not have the details of time so we calculate the whole time the iron is used.

t= 30 days of April × the hours the iron is used.

Here we have the time in minutes so to change it to hour we divide by 60 which gives us 0.5hr, so now,

t= 30×0.5=15hrs

This means the iron is used a total of 15 hours in the month.

Now,

E=power×time

= 1200×15

=18000W

Which equals, 18000/1000 to give 18kWh.
