Given :   124=q×5+r

To Find :  the possible value of r

Solution:

Dividend = Divisor x Quotient + remainder

Stop the division if remainder is zero or degree of remainder is less than quotient

 Euclid's Division Lemma

a=bq+r

a = dividend

b = divisor

q = quotient

r = remainder

0 ≤ r < b

124 = q × 5 + r

Hence  r  < 5

Possible  values of r are  0 , 1  , 2 , 3 , 4

On performing Division  actual value of r is 4

124 = 24 * 5 + 4
