Correct questions

➝If 12x+17y=48 and 17x+12y=68 then what is the value of (x-y)?

Solution

Given

➝12x + 17y = 48 (i)

➝17x + 12y = 68 (ii)

To Find

➝(x - y)

Firstly Find the value of x and y , Take

➝12x + 17y = 48 (i)

➝17x + 12y = 68 (ii)

Using Substitution Method, Take (i)

➝12x + 17y = 48

➝12x = 48 - 17y

➝x = (48 - 17y )/12 (iii)

Now Put the value of x on (ii)

➝17x + 12y = 68 (ii)

➝17{(48 - 17y)/12} + 12y = 68

➝17(48 - 17y ) + 144y = 68 × 12

➝816 - 289y + 144y = 816

➝- 145y = 0

➝y = 0

Now put the value of y on (iii) eq

➝x = (48 - 17y )/12 (iii)

➝x = ( 48 - 0 )/12

➝x = 48/12

➝x = 4

Now we have to find

➝( x - y )

➝4 - 0
