Answer :

x = 60

Given Pythagorean triplets are 13, 84, 85.

Pythagorean triplets :

The three numbers in which the square of one number is equal to the sum of squares of the other two numbers.

Solution :

Given,

Numbers : 13, (x+24), 85

↦ 85² = 13² + (x + 24)²

↦ 7225 = 169 + x² + 576 + 48x

↦ x² + 48x - 6480 = 0

↦ x² + 108x - 60x - 6480 = 0

↦ x(x + 108) - 60(x + 108) = 0

↦ (x - 60)(x + 108) = 0

↦ x = 60 or x = -108

Here, we should consider only positive numbers.

➽ x = 60
