Let the number be X
20% of X is 20X/100=0.2X
16% of X is 16X/100=0.16X
Given  20% of a number exceeds 16% of the same number by 16
 0.2X=0.16x +16
0.2X-0.16X=16
2X/10-16X/100=16
(20X-16x)/100=16
4X=1600x
=400

SO THE GIVEN NUMBER IS 400

Here is your answer
Let the number is x

ATQ

 \frac{15}{100}  \times x -  \frac{12}{100}  \times x = 30 \\ 15x - 12x = 30 \times 100 \\ 3x = 3000 \\ x =  \frac{3000}{3}  \\ x = 1000

Therefore the number is 1000
