If 15% of the workers in a factory are females and the number of male workers is 272, find the total number of workers in the factory?

let the total no of workers be x.

percentage of female=15%

percentage of male=(100-15)=85%

no of males=85% of x

therefore, 85% of x=272

85÷100×x=272

x=272×100÷85

x=320

hence the total no of workers in the factory is 320.
