Answer:7 days

18 pumps raise 2170 tonnes in 10  days (7 hours each )  = 70 hours

18 pumps can raise water in one hour  := 2170/70 = 31 tonnes.

In 1 hour, 1 pump can raise = 31/18 tonnes

In  1 hour, 16 pumps can raise

31/18 * 16 =248/9 tonnes

1736 tonnes need to be  pumped in : 1739/ (248/9) = 63  tonnes (by 16 pumps)

No of days required =  93/9=

7 days.
