If 198 is subtracted from a three digit number the resulting number is the three digit number formed by reversing the digits of that number. The number can be 462 or 583

Solution:

All the three digit numbers can be represented by a general formula 100x +y ; where x and y are integers

Eg:- For x=1, y=2 we get 100×(1) + 2 = 102

If we change x=2 and y=1 we get , 100×(2) +  1 = 201

Which is the reverse of three digit number obtained

So, on reversing the general formula will be 100y + x

Given:- 198 is subtracted from a three digit number the resulting number is the three digit number formed by reversing the digits of that number

(100x + y) -198 = (100y + x)

100x + y – 198 = 100y + x

(100x – x) + (y – 100y) =198

99x – 99y = 198

x – y   = 198 ÷ 99

x – y =  2

Also, The middle digit of the number equals the sum of its other two digits

The number could be 462 ,583
