GIVEN :-

  • 2ˣ ⁻ ¹ = 1/8.

TO FIND :-

  • The value of the x.

SOLUTION :-

2ˣ ⁻ ¹ = 1/8.

Here , To find the value of x , firstly we need a equal base in R.H.S .

Therefore , 1/8 can be written as 2³.

⇒ 2ˣ ⁻ ¹ = 2⁻³.

Now , by using the exponential identity :- aⁿ = = n = x.

⇒ x - 1 = -3

⇒ x = -3 + 1

x = -2

Hence required value of x is -2.

_____________…

⇒ aⁿ = aˣ = n = x.

⇒ a⁻ⁿ = 1/aⁿ.

⇒ aⁿ ÷ aˣ = aⁿ ⁻ ˣ.
