Solution :

2*3=\sqrt{13}\\\sqrt{2^2+3^2}=\sqrt{4+9}=\sqrt{13}

Similarly,

3*4=5\\\\\sqrt{3^2+4^2}=\sqrt{9+16}=\sqrt{25}=5

So, we get that :

5*12\\\\=\sqrt{5^2+12^2}\\\\=\sqrt{25+144}\\\\=\sqrt{169}\\\\=13

Hence, the value of 5*12= 13.
