hi flash ,

Given
(2/√3 +√5) + (5/√3-√5)
= (2(
√3-√5) + 5(√3+√5) ) / (√3-√5 ) (√3-√5)
= (2√3 - 2√5 + 5√3 + 5√5) / 3-5
= 7√3 + 3√5 / -2
= (-7/2) √3 + (-3/2)√5
= a√3 + b√5

so
a = -7/2 = -3.5
b = -3/2 = -1.5

Hope it helped
