Exceeding meaning increasing

When 2/3 of a number exceeds 3/5 of the number by 1.

Let the number be x.

2/3 of x = 3/5 of c + 1

2/3 of x – 3/5 of x = 1

(10 – 9) / 15 of x = 1

1/15 of x = 1

On cross multiplying,

x = 1 * 15

x = 15
