Answer :

k = 35

Solution :

Here ,

It is given that , the point (2,7) lies on the line kx - 5y = 35 .

Thus ,

The coordinates of the point (2,7) { ie. x = 2 , y = 7 } must satisfy the equation is given line .

Thus ,

Putting x = 2 and y = 7 in the given equation kx - 5y = 35 , we get ;

=> kx - 5y = 35

=> k•2 - 5•7 = 35

=> 2k - 35 = 35

=> 2k = 35 + 35

=> 2k = 70

=> k = 70/2

=> k = 35

Hence , k = 35
