If (2 , a) is the solution of the equation 2x – 3y = 1 then find the value of
a.

2x-3 y = 1 ------eq(i)

we have a given solution is (2, a)

When Suppose,

2 = x & y = a

put eq (i)

2x2 - 3x a = 1

4 - 3 a = 1

-3 a = 1 - 4

-3a = -3

a= -3 ×1/-3

a= 1
