p(x) = 3x^2 + 4x + 2a

Since (- 2) is a zero of p(x), then

p(- 2) = 0

or, 3 (- 2)^2 + 4 (- 2) + 2a = 0

or, 3 * 4 - 4 * 2 + 2a = 0

or, 12 - 8 + 2a = 0

or, 4 + 2a = 0

or, 2 + a = 0

or, a = - 2

So value of a is (- 2).

Given,

x=-2

put in equation

P(x)=0

P(-2)=0

p(x)=3x²+4x+2a

p(-2)=3×(-2)²+4×(-2)+2a

0=3×4-8+2a

0=12-8+2a

-2a=4

a=-2
