if 2 is a zero of polynomial p (x)

ax \times 2 - 3x{a - 1} - 1 = 0

a \times 2 \times 2 - 3 \times 2{a - 1}  - 1 = 0

4a - 6a + 6 - 1 = 0

4a - 6a  + 5 = 0

 - 2a + 5 = 0

 - 2a = 0 - 5

a =  \frac{ - 5}{ - 2}

a =    \frac{5}{2}
