The value of a = - 2

Given :

2 is a zero of the polynomial p(x) = 4x² - 3x + 5a

To find :

The value of a

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Write down the given polynomial

Here the given polynomial is

p(x) = 4x² - 3x + 5a

Step 2 of 2 :

Find the value of a

Here it is given that 2 is a zero of the polynomial p(x) = 4x² - 3x + 5a

∴ p(2) = 0

⇒ 4 × 2² - ( 3 × 2 ) + 5a = 0

⇒ 16 - 6 + 5a = 0

⇒ 5a + 10 = 0

⇒ 5a = - 10

⇒ a = - 2

Hence the required value of a = - 2
