Answer :

k = 4/5

Solution :

Let the given quadratic polynomial be p(x) .

Thus ,

p(x) = kx² - 2x + k

Also ,

We know that , if x = a is a zero of a polynomial p(x) , then p(a) = 0 .

Here ,

It is given that , x = 2 is a zero of the given quadratic polynomial .

Thus ,

=> p(2) = 0

=> k•2² - 2•2 + k = 0

=> 4k - 4 + k = 0

=> 5k - 4 = 0

=> 5k = 4

=> k = 4/5

Hence , k = 4/5 .
