If 2 is added to numerator of a fraction it becomes to 1⁄2 and if 1 is subtracted from denominator it becomes to 1/3. Find the fraction.

2(2 + x) = y

4 + 2x = y

2x - y = -4  .................eq(1)

x/(y - 1) = 1/3

      3x = y - 1

 3x - y = -1  ..................eq(2)

Therefore, to equate x

 6x - 3y = -12

- 6x - 2y = -2  

          -y = -10

           y = 10

3x - y = -1

3x - 10 = -1

3x = 10 - 1

3x = 9

 x = 3

FRACTION = 3/10
