Given

We have a equation of straight line, i.e.

x + y + 2 = 0  ... eqn (i)

Also given

(2,k) is one solution of equation

=> eq (i) will satisfy over this point

putting x=2 and y=k in eqn (i)

2+k+2=0

4 + k = 0

k = -4

Thus k must have value of -4 to be solution of equation.
