Answer:

10kg paint will be required to paint the outside of a box 4.5 m long, 2 m wide and 1.5 m high.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the length of the box = 4.5 m = L

Breadth of the box = 2m = B

Height of the box = 1.5m = H

In order to find the area that is to be painted, we find the total surface area (TSA)

We know that TSA = 2(LB + BH + HL)

                               = 2(4.5*2 + 2*1.5 + 1.5*4.5)

                               = 2( 9 + 3 + 6.75)

                               = 2(18.75)

                               = 37.50m²

Therefore, 37.50m² needs to be painted

Given that 7.5m² is painted with 2 kg paint

=> 1m² will be painted with 2/7.5 kg paint

=> 37.50m² will be painted with (2/7.5)* 37.50 kg paint

                                                  =  10kg paint.

Therefore, 10kg paint will be required to paint the outside of a box 4.5 m long, 2 m wide and 1.5 m high.
