2(p² + q²) = (p + q)²

→ 2p² + 2q² = p² + q² + 2pq

→ 2p² + 2q² - (p² + q² + 2pq) = 0

→ 2p² + 2q² - p² - q²- 2pq = 0

→ p² + q² - 2pq = 0

→ (p - q)² = 0

→ (p - q) = 0

{transposing (-q) to RHS}

→ p = q
