he pipe A can fill in 24 minutes

the pipe B can fill in 40 minutes

and the pipe C can empty in x minutes.

\( \Large \frac{1}{24}+\frac{1}{40}-\frac{1}{x}=\frac{1}{60} \) [given]

\( \Large \frac{1}{x}=\frac{1}{24}+\frac{1}{40}-\frac{1}{60}=\frac{5+3-2}{12}=\frac{6}{120}=\frac{1}{20} \)

C can empty in 20 minutes.

In one minute, 'C' can waste 30 litres of water.

Capacity of the tank = \( \Large 20 \times 30 \) = 600 litres.

Given:-

Pipe A can fill tank in 24 mins

Pipe B can fill tank in 40 mins

Pipe C can fill tank in x mins

To find:-

Capicity of tank

Solution:-

1 + 1 - 1 = 1

24 40 x 60

Equation:

124+140-1x=160

1 1 1 1 5+3-2

x = 24 + 40 - 60 =12

6 1

=120 = 20

Equation:

1x+124+140-160=5+3-212=6120=120

C can empty in 20 mins

In one mins C can empty in 30 litres of water

Capicity of tank=20×30

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ=600 litres

hence, the capicity of tank is 600 litres
