Step-by-step explanation:

let 2^x=m

then

m-1/m=63/8(since 2^-x=1/2^x=m)

m²-1=63m/8

8m²-8=63m

8m²-63m-8=0

8m²-64m+m-8=0

8m(m-8)+1(m-8)=0

(8m+1)(m-8)=0

therefore m=-1/8=-1/2^3=-2^-3

or m=8=2³

so x= 3 as first case is not possible
