Now,

y - 1 = 0

=> y = 1 .

Then, using this value of y, we get,

2x + y = 5

=> 2x + 1 = 5

=> 2x = 5 - 1

=> 2x = 4

=> x = 4/2

=> x = 2

Therefore,
