p(x) = a {x}^{2} - 3(a + 2)x - 4 \\ p(2) = a {(2)}^{2} - 3(a + 2)(2) - 4 \\ 0 = 4a - (3a + 6)(2) - 4 \\ 0 = 4a - 6a - 12 - 4 \\ 0 = - 2a - 16 \\ 2a = - 16 \\ a = - 8

Hope this helps.

Thanks.
