x is 60% more than y.

Explanation:

To convert a percent into decimal we divide it by 100 .

Let A =  20% of 50% of x = 0.20 × 0.50 × (x) = 0.1 x

B = 50% of  25% of y = 0.50 × 0.25 × y = 0.125y

As per given :

A = 2 B

i.e. 0.1 x = 2(0.125 y)

⇒ 0.1 x  = 0.25 y

x=\dfrac{0.25y}{0.1}\\\\ x=2.5y

Difference in x and y = x- y = 2.5y-y= (2.5-1)y= 1.5 y

\dfrac{1.5y}{x}\times100=\dfrac{1.5y}{2.5y}\times100\\\\=\dfrac{1.5}{2.5}\times100=60\%

Hence, x is 60% more than y.
