Answer:

ATQ,

20\% \: of \: x = 400 \\ = \frac{20}{100} \times x = 400 \\ = 20 \times x = 400 \times 100 \\ = 20x = 40000 \\ x = 40000 \div 20 \\ = 2000 \\ \\ hence \: value \: of \: x \: is \: 2000 \\ \\

Verification-

atq. \: 20\% \: of \: x = 400 \\ \\ keeping \: value \: of \: x \: as \: 2000 \\ = 20\% \: of \: 2000 \: should \: be \: 400 \\ \\ = \frac{20}{100} \times 2000 = 400 \\

Since, 400=400, The value of x is 2000

Let that number be x
By the problem,
x*(20/100)=400
Or,x=400*100/20
Or,x=2000
Since 20% of 2000 is 400
Therefore the required number is 2000(Ans)
